Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo – Action filled romance

Naga Chaitanya is in the best phase of his career. After the super success of his last film Premam, he is back with yet another interesting project Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo. Directed by Gautam Menon, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :-

Chinna(Chaitanya) is a college going youth who falls in love with Leela(Manjima Mohan), his sister’s best friend. As time passes by, he gets close to Leela and takes her for a long road trip.

The twist in the tale arises when the beautiful road trip changes upside down because of a horrible accident. Thereafter, things become even more difficult for the couple as a dreaded gang starts attacking them.

Who are these people ? What do they have to do with such a young couple ? and how will Naga Chaitanya save his girl friend from this chaos. That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:-

Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo completely belongs to Chay. The young hero has lost all his inhibitions and has become super confident in his approach towards his performances. Chaitu nails it as the lover boy during the first half and springs a surprise with his serious tone and thrilling performance during the second half.

Manjima Mohan makes a decent debut and suits her role well. Undoubtedly, A R Rahman is yet another highlight of this film. Both his music and background score elevate the film to another level.

Baba Sehgal is lethal in his performance and gives the film an edge. While the first half of the film is quite breezy the second half turns quite serious and thrilling till the pre-climax.

Minus points:

The climax of the film is quite disappointing. Even though the way Gautam Menon wraps up things is okay, they look quite unbelievable and over the top from the outside. The way Chay’s character springs a surprise during the end is outright silly.

The film had scope for more romance but Gautam narrated the film in his own sweet time and with many songs coming in as speed breakers. The placement of these songs is also wrong.

All those who seek superb romance and entertainment during the second half will get disappointed a bit.

Technical Aspects:

As said earlier, music by A R Rahman is very good and holds the film together. Production values are good and credit should go to the cameraman for showcasing the simple proceedings in an interesting way. Editing is sleek and so were the dialogues.

Coming to the director Gautam Menon, he has done a decent job with the film. He has tried many new things in terms of narration. Some work well but there are certainly other factors like the back to back songs which can go against the film. Had he handled the climax in a better way, the outcome would have been even better.

Verdict :

On the whole, Sahasam Swasaga Sagipo has some very interesting moments throughout and will impress the younger generation. But the lack luster and silly climax can disappoint many. However, this film ends up as an okay watch only because of Naga Chaitanya who gives a superb performance and holds the film together.

Review : Manyam Puli – Good in Parts:

Puli Murugan was one film which was a huge hit in Malayalam. The film has been dubbed as Manyam Puli in Telugu and has hit the screens today. Let’s see whether it manages to impress the Telugu audience or not.

Story:-

Puliyooru is a small village which falls under a dense and deadly man-eating tiger area. Things often get tensed as many kids and people keep getting killed by the Tigers living around it.

On the other hand, Kumar(Mohan Lal) is the only man in the village who is capable of fighting the Tigers with his deadly skills. As time passes by, Kumar who is also a lorry driver gets engrossed in a drug case and is forced to leave the village which is already in huge danger.

What happens to his village members now ? Will Kumar come back and save them ? What kind of problems does Kumar face in the city? and where does Jagapathi Babu fit in this setup ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :-

Action sequences and thrills are the biggest highlights of this flick. There are three terrific sequences involving the Tiger and Mohan Lal which have been designed on a superb note. They are quite thrilling and the background score which comes during this time elevates the film in a stunning way.

The complete credit should go to director Vysakh for showcasing Mohan Lal in such a stunning way. Right from his mass scenes to directing him in the action episodes, the director has done a very clever job as the action episodes never look over the top keeping Mohan Lal’s personality and age in mind.

Kamaleni Mukherjee does a decent job in her role. Jagapathi Babu is apt in his role and does not have much to do in the film. The first half if pretty decent and maintains a good pace.

Minus Points :-

As long as the film is set in the forest, it looks quite interesting. The time it moves to the city, it becomes routine and boring. Even though some scenes are good, the entrance of a local don, hero fighting against a conspiracy, everything looks jaded and side tracks the film completely.

Manyam Puli has the effect of a roller coaster. As long as there are fights and heroism episodes, the film looks top notch. The time family drama and some unnecessary scenes come up, you get irritated a bit.

The length of the film also a bit long and there are some fights which could have been toned down. Namitha’s role looks outright silly and cheap and disturbs the film completely.

Technical Aspects :-

Manyam Puli has some of the best visuals in the recent times. The forests shown and the way scenes are set in a realistic tone bring a huge depth to the film. Camera work by Shaji Kumar is just amazing and the dense jungle and all the hero elevation scenes have been shown in an awesome way. Half of the film’s credit can easily go to Gopi Sundar and his electrifying background score.

Coming to the director Vysakh, the young man should be credited for pulling off an adventure cum commercial film for the most part. He shows huge promise with his interesting storyline and the way he adds enough fanboy moments for all Mohan Lal fans. But sadly he too falls for the commercial trap and is forced to make things routine during the second half. Had he set the film in the village itself and created Jagapathi Babu’s role within that zone, things would have been quite great.

Verdict :-

Manyam Puli worked mainly in Malayalam because of some stunning thrills and Mohan Lal’s massy act which is at its peak here. But from the Telugu audience point of view, this film can be only watched for some amazing thrills which are placed at regular intervals. Having said that, one should go in well prepared to bear the rest of the routine drama which lacks nativity and can get you at times.

Review : Meeku Meere Maaku Meme – Just for Few Laughs

Hussain Shah Kiran, who wrote the story for NTR’s Nannaku Prematho has now turned director with the film Meeku Meere Maaku Meme. The youthful entertainer has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-

Aadi(Tarun Shetty) is a happy go lucky guy who falls in love with his college mate Priya(Avantika). As time passes by, even Priya accepts his love and the couple start spending some cozy times together.

Twist in the tale arises when Priya starts doubting Aadi’s sincerity in their relationship. She confronts him and a huge fights ends up in the couple’s break up. Rest of the story is as to how things fall back into place one after the other and the couple gets back on track.

Plus Points:-

One of the major assets of the film is the fun generated trough Tarun and Kiriti’s characters. The proceedings move on a positive note whenever these guys are on screen. The chemistry between the lead pair is quite endearing and the innocence that is generated through their love track looks good on screen.

The way the characters have been introduced and the effect of love affairs in this changing era have also been showcased well. Tarun Shetty makes an impressive debut and is good through out the film.

As said earlier, Kiriti is yet another highlight of the film. He is funny as the side kick and generates good laughs in his role. Avantika too is decent in her role and ably supports the cast.

Minus Points:-

Even though the conflict point in the film is good, the execution makes things a bit difficult. There was so much scope for emotions during the second half which the director failed to utilise. Heroine’s character lacks clarity what soever. Certain cinematic liberties that have been taken look over the top.

By the time the film reaches its climax, the so called drama gets over the top and things go haywire. Two songs in the second half cause a major disturbance to the proceedings. Also, the way things deviate from the actual story line lets the film down in many places.

Technical Aspects:-

Camera work is pretty decent and so are the production values which showcase the mood of the film quite well. Three songs composed by Shravan are good. Editing is decent and the dialogues written are pretty good and go well with the mood of the film.

Coming to the director Hussain Shah, he has done a decent job for his debut film. Even though he looses track with his irregular screenplay and execution, he manages to narrate the film with decent fun most of the times.

Verdict:-

Overall, Meeku Meere Maaku Meme is a decent attempt from debutante director Hussain Shah. Even though he falters in executing the love story in a clearer way and misses out on major emotions, he narrates the film with ample comedy and entertainment. If you go in without any expectations and ignore the lack lustre story line, you might end up enjoying this film.
